What’s a VRU ?
The term of “Vapour Recovery” refers to the vapours emitted from trucks, railcars, barges, ships and storage tanks when they are filled with volatile petroleum products such as gasoline or crude oil.
The transport and storage of these petroleum products results in significant evaporation and loss of product to the atmosphere. Vapour Recovery Units (VRU) reduce these losses, providing both financial benefits thanks to the product recovery and environmental benefits thanks to reduced volatile organic carbon (VOC) emissions.
THE CHALLENGE OF CONTROLLING FLUE GAS AND COV EMISSIONS
Technical regulations and appropriate legislation have been implemented worldwide to significantly reduce VOC emissions through the consumption and installation of appropriate emission control systems – Vapour Recovery Units (Alma Carbovac & Luveba’s business)
Because emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) – from terminals to gas stations – have a very negative impact on the environment:
Human health (driver, operator, environment)
Tropospheric pollution (creation of ground-level ozone)
Security on terminals (flammable vapours, risk of explosion)
